Dear Friends of Griffin

Here we are at the start of the summer term 2021 and I am delighted to welcome you all to our School and to our website.

We are delighted that we are ready to begin the term together, onsite – what a difference a year makes!

We will be ensuring we remain Covid-safe over the next couple of months and this means we still cannot invite our families into the building or into classes at the moment. Let’s hope it won’t be for too much longer!

A message to our friends and potential families:
Thank you to those who applied and have been successful in your applications to join our Griffin Nursery and Reception in September 2021.

If you have been offered a place for September and you are reading this as one of our new families, we will be in touch very soon with our arrangements to meet you in the summer and to get ready for the next academic year. We offer you a warm welcome to Griffin and look forward to meeting you all very soon!

With the movement amongst some of our families during the Covid period, we have some places available in Y1 - Y5 at the moment. If you are interested in talking, visiting or applying please contact me asap: karenbs@griffinprimary.org. If you know anyone looking for a local school please pass on this information.

We have one more term of our Year of Going Green and we intend to make the most of the summer weather to learn outside and spend even more time in our Forest in the City.

We are excited about our ICB theme this half term Sharing the Planet and look forward to studying Geography, Science and summer PE within our linked curriculum. We will be focused on our English, Maths, Computing & Photography learning to ensure a great mixture of creativity and fundamental skills.

Within our Sharing the Planet  planning, we will be exploring ‘big questions’ and important moral and ethical issues around how we can help save the planet. Our students will be taking part in ‘WeAct!’ campaigns too.

I am so happy to add a ‘stop press’ here - Griffin has been selected to be one of the countries ‘New Library’ schools. We are one of only 6 schools across the whole country to be selected!

This is such brilliant news and means that we will be getting a brand new Library - designed and made through a National Library project led by the Children’s Laureate Cressida Cowell.

We will also be getting 1000 new books to inspire our students and community. Happy Reading Everyone!

As always if you have any questions about anything we do at Griffin please do not hesitate to contact us and we will get back to you asap.

Wishing all our families, friends and anyone else sharing our website today a happy, safe and happy summer term ’21.
