Message from the Executive Head:
A new year begins – welcome 2021 and welcome to Griffin!
Monday 4th January 2021
We would like to wish all our Griffin families, friends and visitors a very happy 2021 with lots of peace,
hope and happiness and good health from all of our Griffin students and staff.
We hope you enjoyed a safe and fun holiday break even in such extraordinary circumstances.
Our 1st big hope for the new year is that everyone is keeping well, and we move rapidly to a post-Covid world so that we can all return to sharing our lives together.
Last term we enjoyed opening our Forest in the City and it is already a magical place of learning where our students can be outside exploring and experiencing the world.
As I write, on the morning of 4th January, we are about to embark on a new London ‘lockdown’. This is really hard news to hear and we are so disappointed. We understand the science behind the decision and will work tirelessly to support our students and their families over the coming weeks. We’ll try to ensure our Vulnerable students and Key Worker students are as safe as possible with us at Griffin and we hope the rest of our students enjoy their Home Learning experience too. We will keep in touch and we will, of course, update you regularly with plans as they change at this precarious time.
We hope you all managed to view our end of term Nativity photographs (if not take a look here!)
Our students and staff had fun making it and we hope you will enjoy it just as much but we can’t wait to invite a real-life audience back to share our events soon!
It’s the Year of Going Green at Griffin and in the autumn term we explored linked themes in lots of different ways. We had a virtual Art Exhibition and sang Christmas songs around our Forest School bonfire.
We were so pleased to introduce Rackets Cubed Community Boxes last term. We have been continuously surprised by what has landed on our doorstep each Friday morning ready to be collected by our Griffin community members. We will be in touch when we have more news about arrangements during and beyond this lockdown.
To any prospective families we are so sorry we cannot currently invite you to visit. We do have a slideshow film that Abi McIvor made last term to give you a flavour of life at Griffin so please take a look: https://www.wevideo.com/view/1868370531
As always if we can help with anything at all please contact us and we will get back to you asap.
With very best wishes
Karen Bastick-Styles (Executive Head – Greenside & Griffin)
Thinking of applying for a place at our fantastic school? Unfortunately we cannot welcome parents/carers on site for tours of the school currently but please watch our short promotional film to find out what it is like to learn at Griffin Primary.
