School Dinners and Packed Lunches

School Dinners and Packed Lunches

All  students have either a school lunch or bring a packed lunch. All meals are eaten in the Dining Hall where children are supervised by the meals supervisors. School dinners are paid for weekly. However, parents/carers may pay for lunch for the half term or term if they wish. Payments are made online using the school payment service 'https://www.parentmail.co.uk'.

School lunch always include a vegetarian option. However, if for any reason (religious or medical), your child requires a special diet, please let us know in writing and the catering manager will do their best to ensure these requirements are met.

We do not allow sweets, chocolate-coated foods, crisps or fizzy or sweet drinks to be consumed in school and we ask for your co-operation when making your child’s packed lunch.

We request that no flasks be included for safety reasons and containers be clearly named. Water is available for all student at lunchtime and at mid-morning break.

We do not have refrigerated storage for packed lunches and parents/carers need to bear this in mind when preparing a packed lunch. We would suggest an ice pack be used to accompany the food during the summer months. Uneaten food will be returned to enable parents to monitor consumption.

If you require any advice, or support in preparing healthy packed lunches, please contact our Deputy Headteacher for Inclusion who will be able to support you further.

Students who have difficulty with their school meal or packed lunch are helped by the meals supervisors. Should there be persistent difficulties, these will be discussed with you. If you or your child wish to change from school lunch to packed lunch or vice versa, please notify the office prior to the half term when you wish to make the change (an exception to this rule would be any new child joining the school).
