Attendance

Griffin Primary School expects all pupils from Nursery to Year 6 to have high levels of attendance. Our whole school target is 96%. Pupils should only be absent for exceptional reasons.

Regular school attendance can facilitate positive peer relationships, which is a protective factor for mental health and wellbeing.

The school gates open at 8.45am each day. Pupils must arrive in their classroom by 9am. Any pupils arriving after 9am are recorded as late in the register.

What should Parents/Carers do if their child is unwell?
The NHS guidance Is my child too ill for school? - NHS (www.nhs.uk) is designed to support parents in their decision making about mild illness.

Parents must inform the school office each day that their child is absent before the school day begins, with a reason as to why they are unable to attend school.
